New, Notable, and Naturally Nourishing

With farmers market season right around the corner, I've been working on stocking up on some new (and returning) artisan bath and body products for you! Here are some new, notable, and nature-inspired goodies that you'll want to check out.

Tea-Inspired Soaps

As you know, dear readers, I like to use alternate liquids in my soaps from time to time. I recently had a special order for a tea-themed bridal shower, so I took the proverbial ball and ran with it! The result was two tea-themed soaps that are made with real green tea. Jasmine Green Tea soap is earthy and fruity with real green tea sprinkled on top. White Tea & Ginger soap has a floral and citrus scent that is as delicate as the white and gold swirls within the soap. I topped it with organic ginger tea for some visual interest.

Jasmine Green Tea soap is one of two tea-themed soaps that are new this month!

Lip Balm

The beauty of my lip balm recipe is its simplicity. You already know that Emily's Handmade Soaps is all about simplicity in the ingredient list. I like to be able to identify what's going into my products without having to take a crash course in chemistry, and I know I'm not alone. I think this is especially important in a product like lip balm that you'll probably be licking off of your lips at some point! My lip balm contains coconut oil, beeswax, sweet almond oil, avocado oil, and phthalate-free flavor fragrance...and that's it!

My new Lip Balm comes in four flavor fragrances.

Lip Balm is available in four flavor fragrances, including Vanilla Mint, Orange Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, and Limeade. The scent and sweet taste are subtle, but add a little something special!

Last winter I offered three hand & body lotion scents and sold out very quickly! I've been so busy making soap that it's taken me a while to get back to lotion making, but I finally have two varieties available. Both are scented with essential oils and contain colloidal oatmeal for an amazing skin feel that absorbs quickly and smells fantastic.

The ingredient list on the hand and body lotions can be a little bit confusing, so I'll break it down here:
  • Water
  • Coconut Oil
  • Aloe
  • Cetearyl Alcohol & Polysorbate 60 (This combination acts as an emulsifying wax that allows the oils and water to combine and keeps it from separating.)
  • Stearic Acid (I purchase stearic acid that is made of triple pressed palm oil, so this lotion is vegan friendly!)
  • Grape Seed Oil
  • Babassu Oil
Hand & Body Lotion come in two sizes
    (4 oz. and 8 oz.)
  • Cyclomethicone (This is a synthetic liquid that is added in very small amounts to help the spreadability and absorption of the lotion.)
  • Essential Oil (Lavender essential oil in the Lavender Lotion, and Rose Geranium essential oil in the Rose Geranrium Lotion)
  • Colloidal Oatmeal
  • Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid (This combination is a preservative. Since lotion contains water, it is susceptable to bacterial growth. I'd rather sell you a product that has a tiny amount of preservative than a product that could grow mold!)
  • Tocopherol (A fancy name for Vitamin E)
  • The Rose Geranium Lotion also contains rose water (which adds a lovely dimension to the scent).

That's it! I try to keep my creations as natural as possible, and do much research and considering when using synthetic additives. The result is a vegan-friendly, silky soft lotion that smells incredible!

Bath TeaBath Tea

While we've had a few warm (okay, HOT) days so far this spring in the Pacific Northwest, there are still a few chilly days to come. What would be a better complement to a rainy day than a nice warm bath with a sachet of Bath Tea with Spa Salts

This botanical blend is included in the sachets of Bath Tea with Spa Salts

The Bath Tea with Spa Salts are a single-use sachet that you can add directly to your bath water or hang over your faucet as the tub fills up with warm water, letting the water cascade through the sachet. The tea has an herbaceous scent from the mix of botanicals, and I've complemented it with lemongrass essential oil. European spa salts are added for a luxurious bathing experience, making these a fantastic (affordable!) gift.
